The goal of this program is to improve management of symptoms of poisoning, use of tranexamic acid (TXA) in the emergency department, and management of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in patients on anticoagulant therapy. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Depict the mechanism of metabolism of acetaminophen and relation to toxic symptoms. 2. Assess the efficacy of adjunctive therapies for emer gent treatment of toxicity symptoms produced by various substances. 3. Administer appropriate doses of TXA based on treatment guidelines. 4. Recognize medical conditions which enhance patient candidacy for treatment with TXA. 5. Reduce mortality of patients with TBI who take antico agulant medications.
