Atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia is a macroreentrant supraventricular tachycardia that occurs in children and adults, posing significant clinical challenges and requiring specialized management. Atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia is characterized by the formation of a circuit involving accessory pathways and the conventional conduction system. This condition typically involves 2 or more distinct pathways with distinct electrical properties, including conduction velocity, refractory periods, and directionality. The clinical presentation of AVRT varies depending on associated comorbidities, and if left untreated, it can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. This education activity reviews the etiology, epidemiology, and pathophysiology of atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia, and diagnostic and treatment approaches that ensure appropriate, timely care. This course highlights the need for interprofessional team collaboration to improve the management of atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia and patient outcomes.
