Blood Glucose Management in Children/Critical Care Medicine

The goal of this program is to improve the management of hypoglyce mia and hyperglycemia in pediatric patients during the perioperative period and the management of critically ill patients. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Compare requirements for dextrose during the perioperative period in patients on subcutaneous vs intravenous insulin. 2. List diagnostic procedures in which automated insulin delivery systems are contraindicated. 3. Optimize the target plateau pressure and driving pressure in patients on ventilators. 4. Choose the best method for measuring fluid responsiveness in critically ill patients. 5. Administer corticosteroids in critically ill patients.
