The goal of this program is to improve methods for clinical determination of brain death and management of delirium. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify criteria needed to proceed with a clinical assess¬ment for determination of brain death.
2. Develop strategies for performing clinical assessments to make a determination of brain death.
3. Identify modifiable and nonmodifiable factors associated with an increased risk for delirium in the intensive care unit.
4. Use clinical assessment tools to diagnose delirium in the intensive care unit.
5. Manage and prevent delirium using pharmacologic and non¬pharmacologic strategies.
