Over the past 40 years, breast imaging has evolved from a nascent radiologic stepchild to a multifaceted, multimodality life-saving powerhouse. Its ascent to radiologic prominence has been almost dizzying in its speed and complexity, demanding imaging competence of its practitioners along many paths at once. The focus of this teaching set is to add a sizeable measure of support to that competence by addressing the following objectives: OBJECTIVES: – Improve overall diagnostic accuracy in breast imaging – Understand the new BI-RADS manual lexicon and changes for MRI, ultrasound and mammography – Update knowledge regarding high-risk breast lesions and new consensus strategies regarding their management – Receive update on contrast-enhanced mammography, including indications and clinical utility – Appreciate the role of the radiologist in the overall care of the patient presenting with a breast problem – Review the expanding role of screening breast ultrasound, and the recommended measures for setting up a screening ultrasound program – Embrace the advances in new breast imaging techniques and technologies, especially within the realm of Breast MRI.
