Obesity rates are rising among adults and children across the US, especially in the southern states. The healthcare burden of obesity comorbid conditions continues to affect individuals and their families. Lifestyle interventions, pharmacotherapy and metabolic surgery have demonstrated effectiveness for weight loss, preventing health complications, and treating comorbid conditions such as T2D, CVD, CKD, liver disease, some types of cancer, obstructive sleep apnea, and osteoarthritis. Effective and appropriate implementation of these approaches in routine practice can help clinicians in these regions provide optimal outcomes to their patients. This activity should provide the physician/health care provider with the most up to date findings and practices necessary to serve their patients with obesity.
