The goal of this program is to improve the management of post cardiac arrest (CA) care in the emergency department and initial evaluation and management of complex cardiac patients. After hear ing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Recognize the clinical manifestations of post-CA syndrome. 2. Use appropriate interventions for managing post-CA syndrome. 3. Select patients who require a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) who are not eligible for transplantation. 4. Identify the common clinical presentations and complica tions associated with LVADs. 5. Implement the emergency management steps for suspected transplant rejection.
