Cardiac Concerns in Children/Sedation for Neurologic Studies

The goal of this program is to improve administration of procedural sedation in children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and administration of sedation for neurologic studies. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Differentiate between acyanotic and cyanotic heart disease. 2. Optimize use of dexmedetomidine in combination with a local anesthetic when appropriate. 3. Choose appropriate sedatives for patients undergoing electroencephalography. 4. Evaluate the effect of midazolam pretreatment for magnetoencephalography. 5. Choose the most effective sedatives in children with spinal muscle atrophy for intrathecal nusinersen treatment.
