This series is designed to provide an enduring, case-based educational platform for providers who treat Veterans with mental health needs. The goal of these recorded, knowledge-based sessions is to increase interprofessional healthcare teams knowledge of mental illnesses and evidence-based treatments. This month s presentation will focus on Cardiac Conditions, stimulant use disorder is a growing public health concern due to its increase risk of causing cardiac issues. Overdose deaths attributed to psychostimulants (primarily methamphetamine) have been increasing since 2014 regardless of co-occurring opioid involvement. There is a known relationship between cardiac related diseases and Stimulant Use Disorder (StimUD). This training will improve cardiology and primary care provider understanding of stimulate use and psychiatric provider understanding of cardiovascular disease. This program will help bridge the knowledge gap for providers when it comes to StimUD and its relation to cardiac issues and attempt to increase collaboration between healthcare teams to better serve this complex patient population provide comprehensive medical, psychiatric and substance use disorders care.
