The goal of this program is to improve identification and management of atherosclerotic plaques, dietary counseling to reduce risk for cardiovascular events, and management of diabetes by addressing social determinants of health. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Use invasive and non-invasive methods to monitor plaque formation and regression.
2. Develop pharmacologic and lifestyle-based management strategies to promote regression of atherosclerotic plaques.
3. Counsel patients on dietary approaches for primary and secondary prevention of metabolic and cardiovascular disorders.
4. Summarize the benefits of nut, fish, and dairy consumption on cardiovascular health.
5. Address social determinants of health that affect diabetes self-management.
