The goal of this program is to prevent adverse health outcomes associated with sleep-disordered breathing and promote ethical decision making with regard to physician-assisted death. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Use appropriate terminology for describing sleep-disordered breathing.
2. Distinguish among the different types of sleep apnea.
3. Recognize cardiovascular consequences of sleep-disordered breathing
4. Assume the role of attending physician, as specified in the California End of Life Option Act.
5. Respond appropriately to patients requesting physician-assisted death.
