The goal of this program is to improve evaluation and diagnosis of physical and sexual abuse in children and methods of addressing social determinants affecting long-term outcomes in people affected by violence. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Identify injuries that are suspicious for child abuse. 2. Use appropriate laboratory tests to differentiate normal injury from injury caused by child abuse. 3. Evaluate normal findings that may be mistaken for pediatric sexual abuse. 4. Determine the social elements necessary for favorable longterm health outcomes in individuals affected by violence. 5. Recommend risk-reduction resources in hospital-based violence intervention programs.
