Chondroid Syringoma

Chondroid Syringoma

Chondroid syringoma is a rare, benign adnexal skin tumor, also known as a mixed tumor, due to its epithelial and mesenchymal components. The epithelial portion typically involves eccrine or apocrine sweat glands, while the mesenchymal part consists of myxoid or chondroid stroma. Clinically, it presents as a slow-growing, painless nodule commonly found on the head or neck of adult men. Diagnosis is confirmed via histopathology, and treatment is primarily surgical excision. Though usually benign, there is a rare malignant variant of chondroid syringoma that presents aggressively, particularly on the lower extremities.Participants in this activity learn how to improve diagnostic accuracy by recognizing chondroid syringoma’s clinical and histological features, enabling timely and appropriate treatment. The course emphasizes distinguishing between benign and malignant mixed tumors, particularly when evaluating nodules in cosmetically sensitive areas. Collaboration with an interprofessional team ensures early diagnosis and effective management, improving patient outcomes and reducing morbidity.
