Learning Objectives: Learners will be able to identify common causes of chronic knee and shoulder pain in both pediatric and adult age groups. Learners will understand the pathophysiology of osteoarthritis and its basic diagnosis and management. Learners will be able to perform basic exam maneuvers of the knee and shoulder and know when advanced imaging is necessary/warranted. Learners will explore the use of injections and ultrasound technology in the outpatient setting. Learners will explore, analyze, and apply the use of different types of medications, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications and possible narcotics in the treatment of these patients in the outpatient setting. Learners will develop skills and understanding to utilize injections with or without imaging devices to perform these procedures. Learners will improve the care of chronic knee and shoulder pain in patients using current evaluation and treatment modalities.
