CLABSI, or central line associated bloodstream infections can develop any time a central line is in place. This presentation focuses on interventions to prevent infection occurring during insertion of a central line. The speaker reviews the definition, risk factors, disparities, and monitoring. CLABSI prevention bundles, checklists, and indications for CVC placement are also discussed. The module, while not covering the insertion itself, reviews interventions taken prior to, during, and after CVC placement to decrease the risk of infection.
