The goal of this program is to improve management of commonly encountered challenges in primary care. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Select the appropriate method for testing for tuberculosis, based on patient history.
2. Distinguish iron-deficiency anemia from other conditions associated with low mean corpuscular volume.
3. Combine nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug therapy for osteoarthritis and tendinitis with therapies that address underlying pathologies.
4. Maximize the accuracy of lipid panels.
5. Counsel patients with type 1 hypersensitivity reactions to Hymenoptera stings about appropriate use of epinephrine autoinjectors.
