The goal of this program is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases seen in primary care. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify the optimal entry point for incision and drainage in patients with paronychia.
2. Differentiate between the symptomatologies of bacterial and viral pharyngitis.
3. Evaluate for penicillin and cephalosporin allergies for provision of appropriate therapies for strep throat.
4. Analyze thyrotropin levels in various populations of patients with hypothyroidism.
5. Select appropriate follow-up testing modalities for an abnormal Papanicolaou test or positive human papillomavirus test in a patient who is pre-, post-, or perimenopausal.
