Zenker diverticulum (ZD) and other hypopharyngeal diverticula are readily treatable causes of dysphagia. This course will present data from the literature and the authors’ extensive experience treating patients with diverticula to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to select and apply treatment most effectively, even in difficult or recurrent cases. The focus will be on the Endoscopic Staple Diverticulostomy (ESD) technique as the treatment of choice. Detailed descriptions of this technique and recent alternative methods of treatment will be presented using case studies to highlight management issues.
