The ASE Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease Council is continuing a series of webinars to discuss and share practical tips / tricks in the practice of congenital heart disease imaging. This educational offering will comprise of 4 webinars /year (one per quarter). By leveraging the virtual platform, these sessions are designed to reach the ASE pediatric and congenital community, both sonographers and physicians.
This webinar will be a presentation based discussion with focus on emerging role of contrasted enhanced echocardiography imaging in pediatric cardiology. Although use of CE-echo has been long established in adult echocardiography, CE-echo is an emerging modality in pediatrics and is not performed in most pediatric echocardiography laboratories. There is a growing body of literature validating use of CE-echo in acquired and congenital heart disease in pediatric patients with great interest from the community in how to implement CE-echo protocols within pediatric echocardiography laboratories.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand current evidence for utility of CE-echo in pediatric acquired heart disease.
2. Understand current evidence for utility of CE-echo in pediatric congenital disease.
3. Comprehend benefits of CE-echo vs cross sectional imaging modalities relative to one another in pediatric patients.
4. Understand best practices as well as challenges and pitfalls to establishing pediatric CE-echo protocol.
