The goal of this program is to improve the management of infectious keratitis. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify typical and atypical microorganisms associated with infectious keratitis.
2. Optimize methods of culturing microorganisms to obtain an accurate diagnosis.
3. Manage corneal ulcers that have atypical clinical presentations or are unresponsive to standard therapies.
4. Treat common infectious complications in contact lens wearers and patients with prior corneal surgery.
5. Use photodynamic antimicrobial therapy and other novel treatments for infectious keratitis.
