The goal of this program is to improve management of surgical drains, vascular injury, burn injury with associated trauma, abdominal compartment syndrome, and small-bowel obstruction (SBO). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify suitable types of surgical drains for use in different scenarios.
2. Apply proper technique during vascular repair.
3. Treat patients with burns and concomitant traumatic injury.
4. Measure intra-abdominal pressures.
5. Consider nonoperative management for patients with SBO and a virgin abdomen.
