PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The symposium will contain cutting-edge presentations by leading surgeons/scientists from major centers in Europe. The program will cover hearing and structure preservation in cochlear implantation, 10-year data from the United Kingdom national vestibular schwannoma audit, endoscopic dive-in technique for labyrinth invading cholesteatomas, as well as the use of per-operative neuromonitoring of cochlear nerve function in cerebello-pontine angle surgery via the extended retrolabyrinthine approach.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: To learn the principles and outcomes of hearing and structure preservation in cochlear implantation.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: To learn and implement knowledge on 10-year data on the outcomes of a national United Kingdom audit on vestibular schwannomas, as well as the principles and outcomes of per-operative neuromonitoring of hearing in cerebello-pontine angle surgery via the extended retrolabyrinthine approach.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: To learn the principles and outcomes of the endoscopic dive-in technique for labyrinth invading cholesteatomas.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: Representing The European Confederation of ORL Societies (CEORL), we wish to present examples of cutting edge initiatives and activities within the field of otology/neurotology in Europe.
