DAI: 2024-26 Social Determinants of Health and Pain Management

DAI: 2024-26 Social Determinants of Health and Pain Management

Pain is the complex, multidimensional interaction of various ever-changing biological, psychological, and social components. All these factors need to be considered for optimal person-centered outcomes. However, our traditional medical practice often focuses on biological factors and leaves out psychological and social factors that contribute to pain. This course is intended to shift that focus towards an evidence-based holistic approach to pain management that involves an individualized multimodal approach facilitated by an inter-professional healthcare team. This module contributes to the required continuing education credits required by many state licensing boards and other healthcare organizations. These requirements are aimed at curbing the national crisis related to opioids and other pain management drugs.
