The goal of this program is to improve management of issues associated with the onset of puberty in children and adolescents with developmental delay and to improve strategies for education of adolescents and parents on cyberbullying. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify how disabilities affect the timing and trajectory of puberty.
2. Counsel adolescents with developmental delays about body autonomy, menstrual hygiene, and self-care.
3. Select appropriate strategies for menstrual suppression in adolescents with developmental delays.
4. Educate adolescents and their parents about risks associated with use of social media and identification of cyberbullying.
5. Provide adolescents and their parents with strategies for protection against cyberbullying.
