During this recorded, knowledge-based webinar presented by Dr. Mike Kim, Section Chief Neurology VA Puget Sound Health Care System and Associate Professor University of Washington, Seattle and Dr. Krista Brooks-Horrar, FAHS Clinical Lead Tennessee Valley Healthcare System Headache Center of Excellence, in Nashville will provide an overview to interdisciplinary healthcare teams about thermal therapy and FDA-cleared non-invasive neuromodulation devices used in the treatment of headache conditions. Some veterans have conditions or are on other medications which preclude the use of traditional first-line headache treatments. Medication overuse headache also is a potential complication with many acute medications used for migraine and other headaches. Other patients have tried modification of lifestyle and other alternative evidence-based therapies but need or prefer another non-pharmacological approach to treatment. Non-invasive devices provide treatment options for veterans with headache conditions who do not respond to established therapies, require a nonoral route of administration, have contraindications or intolerance to these treatments, or a preference for nonpharmacologic therapies
