1. Differentiate between signs and symptoms of type 1 and type 2 DM.
2. Recognize acute and chronic complications of DM in the emergency department.
3. Review the pathogenesis and methods for management of various microvascular complications in DM.
4. Evaluate for common infections seen in patients with DM.
5. Optimize the management of hyperglycemia in the emergency department.
