DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF DEMENTIA

The goal of this program is to improve recognition of the various types of dementia. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Distinguish between the clinical presentations of Alzheimer disease, Lewy body dementia, and cerebrovascular dementia.
2. Address the concerns of patients and caregivers about dementia.
3. Employ imaging and other available assessment tools to differentiate between types of dementia.
4. Consider the likelihood of particular types of dementia to be present at different patient ages.
5. Recognize the language and behavioral variants of frontotemporal dementia.
