The goal of this program is to improve management of infectious and noninfectious bladder conditions and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Devise an appropriate antimicrobial regimen for the treatment of complicated and uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
2. Distinguish, investigate, and manage noninfectious bladder conditions such as interstitial cystitis.
3. Recognize the subset of patients appropriate for screening and treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria as recommended by the Infectious Diseases Society of America guideline.
4. Identify patients at high risk of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
5. Initiate evidence-based therapy to slow decline in kidney function and treat extrarenal manifestations of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
