There has recently been increasing attention brought to the alarming racial and ethnic disparities in maternal health outcomes in the United States. Less recognized are the similarly alarming inequities experienced by racial/ethnic underserved and LGBTQ+ individuals in need of sexual and reproductive health care traditionally classified as women’s health. These longstanding inequities are often rooted in systemic racism and discrimination and significantly impacted by intersectional oppression. It is imperative that clinicians involved in sexual and reproductive health care are aware of these disparities and able to implement actionable strategies to address them to provide equitable care for all patients.
In this CME Outfitters Snack, expert faculty Drs. Melissa Simon and Monica Peek will engage learners in a discussion designed to help them identify the impact of racism and inequities on the health of patients as well as integrate inclusive, patient-centric strategies to address racism and disparities in the reproductive health care of women and non-binary/trans individuals.
