1. Ascertain different types of prosthetic heart valves (i.e., mechanical, bioprosthesis, homografts, and percutaneous). 2. Master functional and morphological assessment of prosthetic valves. 3. Differentiate obstructive hemodynamics due to valve design from pathologic obstruction. 4. Select the optimal valve prosthesis for each patient. 5. Recognize prosthesis-patient mismatch. 6. Discriminate between trivial or mild trans-prosthetic regurgitation that s considered physiologic from abnormal regurgitation. 7. Manage artifacts that obstruct your view of a regurgitant jet or other structure. 8. Determine the main complications that can occur after prosthetic valve implantation. 9. Use echo to assess prosthetic valve function / dysfunction. 10. Determine which other imaging modalities can be useful to assess your patient s valve prosthesis.
