Clinical and radiologic correlation in the evaluation of effusions is critical since there is significant morphologic overlap between reactive and malignant etiologies. Understanding when ancillary tests and discussions with clinical colleagues are indicated is essential in avoiding pitfalls which can lead to both false positive and false negative interpretations. In this case-based webinar, we will review the approach to effusions, discuss ancillary studies, and stress the importance of identifying pertinent clinical history to avoid pitfalls.
