The intent of this series is to provide physicians with a deeper level of understanding of emotional intelligence and how emotions can drive behavior and impact people both positively and negatively. Managing emotions (both your own and those around you) can be particularly important in many professional situations like giving and receiving feedback, meeting deadlines, dealing with challenging relationships (colleagues and patients), navigating organizational change, handling negotiations and disagreements, and working through setbacks and conflicts. This second module addresses self-management and emphasizes the differences between leadership and management, with an overall goal to help physicians understand how they might need to incorporate both sets of skills to succeed in their practice Course Objectives: As a result of participating in this activity, participants should be able to: Identify the difference between leading and managing Describe the four leadership disciplines Recognize when to lead and when to manage Implement strategies to “Feed Forward”
