The purpose of this recorded, knowledge-based webinar series is to demonstrate how group therapy can be more effective than individual therapy. In addition, this webinar will introduce group therapy to medical and MH professionals who perhaps have never delivered this modality of treatment. Congress established the Veterans Health Administration Office of Rural Health (ORH) in 2006. The delivery of service is via Telehealth Care: with Clinical Resource Hubs positioned around the country to provide primary care, mental health and specialty care services in VA facilities or in Veterans homes via video or telephone. Creating video connect groups for veterans seeking substance use disorder (SUD) treatment was the identified challenge. Collaborating and running ideas by other clinicians with SUD and group experience was helpful when getting started. This activity will present various facets of group therapy, including an introduction to groups offered via telehealth. The pros and cons of video telehealth vs in person group therapy will discussed. This training is appropriate for interprofessional healthcare teams.
