Arthritis is a recognized manifestation associated with several medical conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, bacterial gut infections, gluten-sensitive enteropathy, parasitic infections, pseudomembranous colitis, Whipple disease, and following intestinal bypass surgery. Studies reveal connections between alterations in gut microflora and joint inflammation, particularly with enteropathic arthritis. Enteropathic arthritis can manifest as peripheral, axial, or a combination of both, ranging from subclinical inflammation on imaging to severe symptoms with functional limitations. Effective treatment should address both arthritic and bowel manifestations, with options such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids, disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, and biological agents. The advent of biological therapies has significantly improved outcomes for inflammatory bowel disease and associated arthropathies.Within this activity, participants explore the etiology, pathophysiology, evaluation, and management of enteropathic arthritis, gaining essential knowledge and tools to enhance patient care and overall outcomes while navigating this complex condition. By engaging with the course content, learners deepen their understanding of the relationship between gut health and joint inflammation, as well as refine their skills in diagnosing and treating enteropathic arthritis effectively. Moreover, participation in this course fosters interprofessional collaboration and communication among healthcare teams, facilitating a holistic approach to patient care and optimizing treatment strategies through shared expertise and perspectives.
