The goal of this program is to improve the management of refractory esophageal strictures, prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) pancreatitis, and detection and prevention of gastric cancer. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Determine whether stent placement is indicated in a patient with refractory esophageal strictures. 2. Use appropriate dilation techniques for managing esophageal strictures. 3. Improve the success rate of esophageal dilation in patients with esophageal strictures. 4. Utilize appropriate intraprocedural techniques that can reduce the risk for post-ERCP pancreatitis. 5. Identify the role of Helicobacter pylori in the development of gastric cancer.
