This online CME activity, Essential Procedures for Hospital & Critical Care: On Demand Workshop Module 1, was created in partnership with Hospital Procedure Consultants to provide current, evidence-based information about some of the most common bedside procedures performed in the emergency room, intensive care unit, and hospital wards.

This CME course will utilize a combination of instructional video and systematic discussion that will cover the indications, contraindications, techniques, complications, and coding related to procedures. The course is designed to provide physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health-related professionals with information and skills to improve the care of their hospitalized patients. The focus of this course is not only how to perform these procedures but also how to optimize clinical management using data collected from these various procedures. The format of this course is streaming-only (video recordings are not downloadable).

Tube Thoracostomy
Basic and Difficult Airway Management Including Video Laryngoscopy
Thoracentesis
Safety Of Bedside Procedures in Patients with Thrombocytopenia, Cirrhosis or those on Anticoagulation or Antiplatelets
Learning Objectives:

Define the indications and contraindications for hospital procedures.
Identify the pertinent anatomy, patient positioning, and proper technique for hospital procedures.
Discuss common complications of procedures and appropriate management should they occur.
