ETHICS OF OPIOIDS/TRACHEOMALACIA/VOCAL CORD LEUKOPLAKIA

The goal of this program is to improve practices for prescribing opioid medication after surgery, management of severe tracheomalacia in pediatric patients, and management of vocal cord leukoplakia. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Identify patients at high risk for opioid misuse.
2. Implement strategies for pain management after otolaryngologic surgery to minimize the risk for misuse of opioids.
3. Evaluate and manage severe tracheomalacia in pediatric patients.
4. Summarize the natural history of vocal cord leukoplakia and likelihood of progression to malignancy.
5. Develop strategies for management of vocal cord leukoplakia to optimize oncologic and functional outcomes.
