FIREARM INJURIES/PSYCHIATRY/HEMOSTASIS

The goal of this program is to increase awareness about firearm injuries, and improve the management of patients with mental health crises and the use of available systemic and local hemostatic agents in the emergency department (ED). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Recognize the challenges with managing and preventing firearm injuries.
2. Elaborate on a multifaceted approach to reducing firearm injuries.
3 Assess patients with mental health illnesses who report to the ED.
4. Identify potential intersecting presentations of various mental ill-nesses and mood disorders in patients presenting to the ED.
5. Utilize various available topical and intravenous hemostatic agents in the ED.
