Gastrointestinal illnesses are one of the most common types of illness. Many of these illnesses are foodborne and associated with animal contact and/or improper food handling. This module reviews common foodborne pathogens, symptoms, treatment, high risk populations, and potential complications. The speaker also discusses interventions to decrease the risk of acquiring a foodborne illness such as proper food handling, cooking, and hand hygiene.
