The United States comprises a diverse landscape of viewpoints and beliefs, religious practices, cultures, and peoples. Despite the continual growth of the country’s diverse profile, racial and ethnic underserved populations are disproportionately impacted by cultural ignorance, disparities, and health inequities. Without adopting and actively incorporating cultural humility into daily practices and interactions with patients, the medical community lacks the ability to provide safe places in which patients are able to access medical care, hindering the patient experience and ultimately undermining patient outcomes.
