Gastrointestinal Involvement in COVID-19/Diet for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The goals of this program are to analyze the significance of gastrointestinal (GI) health in COVID-19 and improve the use of dietary therapies for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Recognize the clinical manifestations of GI symptoms in patients with COVID-19 infection. 2. Review the role of the gut-lung axis in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 infection. 3. Discuss the mechanisms by which an unhealthy gut microbiome can worsen the severity of COVID-19 infection. 4. Identify the dietary factors associated with an increased risk of developing IBD. 5. Assess the effectiveness of various dietary interventions for managing symptoms of IBD.
