The goal of this program is to improve management of common illnesses in family medicine and eliminate health care inequities in prostate cancer. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Prevent cases of breast cancer and colon cancer with medication and timely screening.
2. Select the appropriate medication for treatment of patients with mild asthma.
3. Control levels of low-density lipoproteins and triglycerides in patients at risk for atherosclerotic vascular disease.
4. Explain outcomes in prostate cancer in Black vs White men as shown in the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results database.
5. Cite evidence about progression of prostate cancer associated with race, obesity and socioeconomic status.
