The goal of this program is to improve the ability of providers to discuss gun safety and management of diabetes mellitus (DM). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1.Identify persons most at-risk for gun violence.
2. Advise families on strategies that reduce the risk of unintentional shootings.
3. Recognize characteristics of the changing phenotype of patients with type 1 DM.
4. Differentiate treatment options for management of children with DM from treatment options for adults with DM.
5. Select antihyperglycemic medications that promote weight loss.
