Gynecologic Emergencies/Acute Appendicitis/Umbilical Hernia Repair/Gallbladder Disease

The goal of this program is to improve the management of gyneco logic surgical emergencies, acute appendicitis, umbilical hernia, and gallbladder disease. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Use appropriate surgical techniques in the management of gynecologic emergencies. 2. Compare the efficacies of antibiotic therapy and appendectomy for acute appendicitis. 3. Identify various surgical techniques for the management of umbilical hernia. 4. Evaluate gallbladder disease using appropriate imaging modalities in patients presenting with right upper quadrant pain. 5. Implement practice guidelines on the prevention of bile duct injury during cholecystectomy.
