PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Technology moves fast, and that especially goes for implantable hearing devices. New devices and indications emerge every year! This Expert Lecture will update the comprehensive otolaryngologist and otologist on the current state of cochlear and osseointegrated options, update the clinician on modern candidacy indications, and highlight changes in post-implant surgical and MRI safety.Your Experts are the former Medical Director and current Audiology Director of the Hearing Implant Program at Cleveland Clinic, a high-volume implant program which emphasizes multidisciplinary team decision-making and which has a reputation for process improvement in candidacy identification.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Examine recent changes to cochlear implant candidacy, particularly CMS changes, and identify patients in your current practice who may benefit from an implantable hearing device.OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Explore and compare current FDA-approved osseointegrated hearing implants including Cochlear Baha Connect , Baha Attract , Osia ; MED-EL Bonebridge ; Oticon Ponto ; Medtronic Alpha 2 MPO ePlus .OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Update and clarify safety precautions (imaging and surgical) for implanted patients in one s practice.BACKGROUND STATEMENT: this is my third year… to keep fresh and continue to draw people, I am slightly rebranding it to be an ANNUAL update of changes to implantable devices. i’m also including my former colleague dr sydlowski as a co-presenter which may also draw in more otologists and audiologists in attendance.
