This project will address the urgent need for professional education and training to create a well-informed health care workforce knowledgeable about hepatitis B. The UW will address this problem by enhancing the delivery of accurate, up-to-date and comprehensive information on all aspects of hepatitis B to health care providers who need this information. This approach will fulfill the two main outcomes: 1) Increase health professionals’ knowledge of the complex issues surrounding chronic hepatitis B including the populations affected, screening recommendations, serology, medical monitoring, care and treatment; and 2) Increase health professionals’ competence to conduct risk assessments, screen, identify, diagnose, counsel, stage, monitor and make appropriate referrals for those at risk for or are living with hepatitis B.
