HEPATITIS C VIRUS INFECTION/SUICIDE AND GUNS

The goal of this program is to improve the management of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in primary care and the reduction of firearm suicide. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Manage HCV infection in pregnant women.
2. Assess patients’ Fibrosis 4 scores to determine levels of fibrosis.
3. Determine whether patients have compensated or decompensated liver disease.
4. Cite epidemiologic statistics regarding suicide by guns.
5. Explain how changes in gun laws have affected gun suicide.
