The goal of this program is to improve outcomes of joint replacement surgery through blood management strategies, medical optimization, prevention of infection, and antibiotic prophylaxis. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to: 1. Optimize perioperative blood management in patients undergoing total joint replacement procedures. 2. Evaluate the effectiveness of preoperative optimization interventions on patient outcomes. 3. Consult with outside disciplines to optimize perioperative care for patients with comorbidities. 4. Manage antibiotic prophylaxis in patients with a self-reported history of penicillin allergy. 5. Develop strategies for prevention and control of infection in patients undergoing joint replacement procedures.
