The goal of this program is to improve the assessment of neuro¬cognitive changes and dementia in older adults and the diagno¬sis and management of mental health disorders in primary care. After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinician will be better able to:
1. Differentiate between signs of normal cognitive decline of aging, mild cognitive impairment, and dementia.
2. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of various screening tools for dementia.
3. Utilize appropriate screening modalities for patients with mental health disorders.
4. Develop an appropriate treatment regimen for managing symptoms of major depressive disorder.
5. Select appropriate psychotherapies and medications for managing symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder.
