The goal of this program is to improve the provision of trauma-informed care and evaluation of patients with suspected heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). After hearing and assimilating this program, the clinicians will be able to:
1. Identify the three realms of adverse childhood experiences.
2. Elaborate on the key principles of trauma-informed care.
3. Incorporate the 4 Rs of trauma-informed care (realizing, recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma, responding to trauma, resisting retraumatizing patients) into office-based practice.
4. Utilize appropriate testing modalities to definitively diagnose or rule out HFpEF.
5. Compare the HFpEF and HFA-PEFF (Heart Failure Association: pretest assessment, echocardiography and natriuretic peptide score, functional testing in case of uncertainty, and final etiology) scores for diagnosing HFpEF.
